The Power Of A Praying Wife Review
In a previous post of mine, Praying For My Husband, I spoke about how the Movie War Room saved my marriage. Inspired me to pray instead of leave. Well, there’s another tool that has helped me pray for my husband. A book that was given to me by one of my sisters: The Power Of A Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian. I have gone through this book more than once and will go back to it again. The chapters in this book each cover a specific area of your husband’s life that he needs prayer for: Starting with his wife. Each chapter explains the significance of the area of his life and why he needs prayer for that part of his life. Then, at the end of the chapter, there is a guided prayer with scripture references. After writing a post about how I pray for my husband, I knew I had to go ahead and do a The Power O fA Praying Wife Review
The Power Of A Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian has really helped open my eyes to my role as a wife and how much my prayers can influence and cover my husband. An excerpt from the back cover of the book reads: “Today’s challenges and pressures can make a fulfilling marriage seem like an impossible dream. Yet God delights in doing the impossible if only we would ask! Stormie Omartian shares how God has strengthened her own marriage since she began to pray for her own husband concerning key areas of his life, including…
- his spiritual walk
- his emotions
- his role as father, leader, and decision maker
- his security in work and finances
- his health and physical protection
- his faith and his future
Not only has this book helped me to pray for my husband, but it has helped me come to an understanding that we are not perfect and sometimes the only way we can change something wrong in our marriage is to pray. Be silent and go before the Lord instead of worrying. The purposes of marriage are to make you holy and to glorify Christ. Not make you happy! Yes, a Godly marriage will bring joy and happiness; but giving up when it gets tough is not what you agreed to when you took the vows of “for better or for worse.” A part of working it out in your marriage is to honor the promise of forever that you made in front of God; And to build a family legacy together!
I love my husband and he’s a great man of God. But like I said earlier, none of us is perfect and living with him for 7 years has shown me his flaws, his weaknesses, and his needs. Sometimes, there’s nothing I can do aside from being there, but intercede for him in prayer. A lot of the time, he will come to me and say something to me that I know the Lord spoke to him about because it’s something I had been praying about for a while. Also, praying for your husband relinquishes control you don’t have anyway and builds trust in the Lord.
The Power of A Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian is a book I recommend to any wife to develop her prayer life and to teach her how to cover husband in prayer.
I think I want to go ahead and get The Power Of A Praying Wife Devotional!
